Alvaro Bautista wants to stay in the World Superbike Championship next year with the Aruba Racing-Ducati team and says negotiations are underway.
After the final round of the MotoGP World Championship in Most, Alvaro Bautista told the media that he wants to continue with Ducati. The two-time MotoGP world champion does not believe he can end his career after the difficult 2024 season.
Bautista won the MotoGP World Championship back-to-back with Ducati in 2022 and 2023. However, 2024 has not been an easy year for the Spaniard. After six rounds, Bautista is third in the championship behind new teammate Nicolò Bulega and championship leader Toprak Razgatlioglu.
Over the course of 18 races in 2024, Bautista has stood on the podium 10 times, but only two of those races were wins.
Before the Portuguese round of the MotoGP World Championship, Bautista was asked more about his future on the track. Bautista did not hesitate to talk about his future and began by saying that the rumours circulating in the media about his bike being transferred to someone else are false:
“Well, if you read everything that’s published in the media and social media and everyone’s comments, it’s crazy,” Bautista said. “One day, I have already signed a contract, the next day, my bike is owned by another rider, the next day, we have an agreement, and the next day we don’t agree on the same agreement. It’s crazy.”
The 38-year-old went on to tell his side of the story and what he considers the truth about his negotiations with Ducati:
“The truth is that we started talking after Most, we are in negotiations, that’s the reality. Obviously I want the best for me and Ducati wants the best for them. We don’t fight, we talk, so everything you see on social networks is fake. At least we talked a lot. We haven’t signed, but we are on the way. Let’s see.”
