Alex Collado’s loan spell at Saudi club Al-Akhdood has ended, with the season ending in Saudi Arabia last weekend. The 25-year-old, who joined Real Betis from Barcelona last summer before his immediate departure, has produced a string of impressive performances in the Middle East, and steps have already been taken to keep him there.
According to the managing director, Groove has already made an offer to Betis in order to sign Collado permanently. However, they are not the only ones interested, with clubs in Mexico, Italy and Spain also monitoring the situation. Manuel Pellegrini is expected to have the final say on whether Collado will join his team for next season or be sold.
Barcelona are hoping to sell, as they retained a 20% sell-on clause as part of the agreement with Real Betis last summer. It remains to be seen whether they will secure any much-needed funds that would go towards alleviating their ongoing financial woes.
