Ecclestone wrong and drivers furious with FIA – RacingNews365 FE Review

Former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone has conceded that he was wrong with previous criticism of Formula E and believes the all-electric championship is now at “Formula 1’s level”.

The ex-F1 CEO was one of the championship’s biggest critics when Formula E was born a decade ago and stressed that he would be stunned if the series continued after one race.

FIA criticised for calendar clash – “It’s just really nuts”

Robin Frijns believes the FIA “clearly” does not support drivers competing in more than one championship, as proven by the upcoming Formula E and World Endurance Championship (WEC) clash.

Formula E’s Berlin E-Prix double-header and WEC’s Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps fall on the same weekend in May, impacting seven Formula E drivers.

Formula E ‘more interesting’ than F1 – Massa

Ex-F1 and Formula E driver Felipe Massa believes the all-electric series is now “more interesting” to watch than F1, as the competition is considerably closer.

Massa raced in Formula E for Venturi across two seasons, whilst he spent 15 years prior to that in F1.

Formula E CEO ‘open’ to both Thailand and Malaysia races

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has revealed that the sport would be “open” to both Thailand and Malaysia hosting races in the future, despite concerns by the latter that they could miss out.

Thailand’s interest in Formula E was expressed by the nation’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on social media, following a positive breakfast with Dodds in Paris.

McLaren’s ‘weakness’ present despite maiden victory

Jake Hughes conceded after the São Paulo E-Prix that McLaren’s “weakness” is “exaggerated” in the peloton-style races, which returned in dramatic fashion last weekend.

Hughes made an excellent start but was quickly sucked into the midfield, as a result of losing several places in one corner.

Formula E’s peloton racing: Just right or too extreme?

Formula E’s peloton-style of racing returned with a bang last weekend at the São Paulo E-Prix, and once again divided opinions.

Peloton races are effectively when a high number of overtakes occur, as a result of the drivers wanting to sit in the slipstream to preserve their energy. This has been caused by some races having low usable energy or a high number of laps.
