After sweeping Colombia aside in the 2024 W Gold Cup quarter-finals, the USWNT now face neighbours Canada in the last four.
First-half goals by Lindsey Horan, Jenna Nighswonger and Jaedyn Shaw earned the US a 3-0 victory on Sunday, as the tournament hosts bounced back in style from their surprise group-stage defeat to Mexico.
Meanwhile, Canada booked their semi-final spot with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica on Saturday, Evelyne Viens netting the tie’s only goal in extra time. The Canucks are yet to concede at the W Gold Cup – and are the tournament’s top scorers, with 14 goals.
The winners of the USWNT vs Canada will meet either Brazil or Mexico in the final on Sunday 10 March.

Canada vs USWNT: head to head
Canada have beaten the USWNT just once in the teams’ last 14 meetings – but that win came in the semi-final of a major tournament. The Canadians downed the four-time world champions at the last-four stage of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, before winning the gold-medal match against Sweden.
The North American rivals’ most recent meeting came in the SheBelieves Cup in February 2023, Mallory Swanson’s double giving the USWNT a 2-0 triumph.
Canada vs USWNT: prediction
We expect the USWNT to end Canada’s run of consecutive clean sheets, which stretches back seven games to their 1-0 friendly defeat to Brazil last October. Beverly Priestman’s team can also be counted on to score goals, though, so we reckon an entertaining draw will go the distance in San Diego. Prediction: Canada 2-2 USWNT (US win on penalties).
