Arsenal, the Premier League runners-up, are said to be preparing to bolster their attack this summer with Newcastle’s Isak.
Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Alexander Isak despite Newcastle attempting to deter suitors by charging a ridiculous price for the Swedish striker.
Isak joined Newcastle in the summer of 2022 for a club record fee of €70 million. He has spent two seasons at the club and could be ready for an exit this summer as several top clubs are interested in moving him away from St James’ Park.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta which striker he will sign to help the club bounce back from their recent title disappointment.
Joshua Zirkzee could leave Bologna this summer with the club president indicating they will not hold back any potential move.
Arsenal interest amid high price
Arsenal wants to strengthen its attacking ranks in the summer, especially in the centre-forward position, and the club director, Mikel Arteta, is said to be covetous of Isaac.
The Gunners are expected to make a move for him this summer; However, they will have to face Newcastle, with the Magpies having no intention of letting their prized asset leave just two seasons after paying a club record fee to snap him up from Real Sociedad.
According to The Telegraph, Isak has a ‘not for sale’ status, and Newcastle are working on offering to extend his contract, although the current deal has four years remaining. Although it has been reported that a £90m bid would bring Newcastle to the table, a club insider has claimed it would need double that amount to get them to listen.
Arsenal will also have to work hard to convince Isak, as the striker confirmed a few months ago that he has no intention of leaving Newcastle.
“Of course I want to be here in Newcastle in the future. I came here for the project. I absolutely love playing here. I really feel at home. It doesn’t affect me too much,” he told reporters. [transfer rumours].

“It’s been talked about so many times, in so many windows. I see it as just something like that. Everyone knows summer is coming and if things come up, things could happen, but I actually didn’t even think about it.”
Isak struggled with injury in his first season with Newcastle. However, this term showed the form that helped him determine the price. He scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, 21 of which came in the English Premier League.
