Chelsea could be set to reunite with former manager Thomas Tuchel as they bid farewell to Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea could be ready for the familiar face of Thomas Tuchel as they look to replace outgoing coach Mauricio Pochettino ahead of next season.
Pochettino leaves Chelsea after one season
Chelsea announced that Argentine coach Pochettino has left the club with immediate effect by mutual consent after only one season in charge of the Blues.
Pochettino led the Blues to sixth place in the Premier League as well as the UEFA Cup final and the FA Cup semi-final but failed to win either, resulting in a disappointing season for Chelsea considering their spending in the transfer market.
With the former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager gone, Chelsea will be keen to find the perfect replacement, with the former Blues boss back in the mix.
Tuchel and Flick promote Chelsea’s role
After winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, Tuchel has become a favorite with Blues fans and could be set to return to Stamford Bridge after agreeing to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season.
The German coach will face competition to coach Chelsea from another former coach of Bayern Munich, Hansi Flick, who led the Bavarian team to a distinguished treble during his first season as coach of the club.
Flick has reportedly indicated his interest in coaching Chelsea, but he is likely to be the second candidate for the job thanks to Tuchel’s history with the club.
