Gresini Racing has revealed the machine Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez will campaign in the 2024 MotoGP World Championship.
The independent Italian outfit became the first of MotoGP’s eleven teams to show its colours for the upcoming MotoGP campaign, offering a first look at eight-time GP World Champion Marc Marquez in Gresini colours.
The Spaniard assumes the seat previously occupied by Fabio di Giannantonio and sees him pair up with his brother Alex, the brothers racing alongside each other for the first time since the start of the delayed 2020 MotoGP season before Marc injured himself heavily in a crash at Jerez.
The deal means Marquez will ride something other than a Honda in MotoGP for the first time since his debut back in 2013. Since then he has 59 MotoGP races and six world titles, though his most recent victory came in 2021 at Misano.
He is hoping to enjoy the same career upturn as brother Alex, who enjoyed his strongest season in 2023 upon joining Gresini Ducati, scoring two Sprint Race victories en route to ninth in the standings.
“Of course, it’s a new chapter, especially in my career,” Marquez commented. “The project is exciting and motivation is super high, but I also feel especially calm.
“I made a very important decision. I chose a way and we will see if it’s the good one or not in the future, but the project is to try to find again that motivation and that racing spirit in the races, and fight for a good position.”
