Following the recent trend of reducing the amount of pre-season testing, in 2024, teams will have just three full days of action to put their new cars through their paces.
For reasons of cost and practicability, testing now takes place in Bahrain at the Sakhir International Circuit the week before the season gets underway.
This year, testing takes place between February 21-23, with each race driver set for a minimum of a day-and-a-half in the car – although the time available to each driver does depend on red flags, mechanical gremlins or reliability concerns.
Each day, the action is set to go green at 07:00am UK time – 10:00am in Bahrain and last until 16:00 UK time, or 19:00pm local time.
There is also an hour shutdown in the middle of the day for lunch.
The first race weekend of the new season takes place between February 29th-March 3rd with the Bahrain Grand Prix set to be on Saturday March 3rd owing to the start of Ramadan and the Saudi Arabian GP needing to be moved forward to Saturday to accommodate the start of the Islamic Holy month on March 10th.
You can follow pre-season testing with RacingNews365 with extensive live coverage of the action and also throughout the 2024 season.
