Glasgow Warriors have announced the signing of former Scotland U20 player Finn Richardson from Exeter Chiefs ahead of next season.

The 25-year-old is dual-registered with Chiefs and Cornish Pirates, as well as representing Exeter University during his time at Sandy Park, but will move north to further his ambitions to represent Scotland.

Richardson will join Exeter team-mate Patrick Chickerling in a move to Scotstoun next season. Scottish front row Rory Sutherland will be the other arrival to Glasgow over the summer, although he plays on the other side of the party.

The trio will improve on a Glasgow side that already sits at the top of the United Rugby Championship table with two rounds of the regular season remaining.

Richardson has made his intentions quite clear that he is gunning for the No.3 shirt in Scotland, and believes Glasgow is the best place to boost his chances.

“I’m really excited to be back in Scotland and am particularly looking forward to working under Franco Smith and learning from the likes of Al Dickinson,” he said.

“The team is flying this year. I can’t wait to be a part of what comes next.”

“I have a lot to say thank you to Exeter and I am very grateful for the time I spent with Chiefs, Cornish Pirates and the University of Exeter. However, the time is right for me to return home and build on my ambitions in international rugby. There is a huge opportunity for hard-working youngsters and coming to Glasgow will give me the best possible chance.” .

Glasgow coach Franco Smith added: “We are delighted to welcome Finn to the club as we continue to build towards next season.

“He is a young player with good potential, and we know he is keen to learn and develop.

“We look forward to working with him and helping him become the best version of himself on and off the field.”
