Norwegian Mia Rosten was hospitalized in a condition described as “currently stable” following a crash that cast a shadow over the historic first race in the FIM Women’s Circuit World Championship.

Rostin crashed unseen into the final corner of the Misano circuit midway into the opening race, and the incident immediately brought out red flags, resulting in the race being suspended and later postponed as Rostin was cared for at the accident site.

She was taken by ambulance and quickly transferred to the Bufalini Trauma Center in Cesena with what was described as “polytrauma” – meaning multiple traumatic injuries.

The WorldWCR Series, which supports World Superbikes, has now announced that Rusthen has been diagnosed with concussion and is in stable condition.

The race resumed for a five-lap sprint to the finish after the rest of the day’s program had concluded, and was immediately red-flagged for another incident, this time involving South African racer Jessica Howden.

Howden, unlike Rusthen, was quickly reported as conscious by race control, but was also taken to the Bufalini Trauma Center with what the series also describes as a concussion.

The third start occurred after a red flag stop due to a Howden collision, and further conflict ensued as, at the start, one of the riders collided with the wall separating the commuter lane and the main straight – but Lena Kemmer, the rider in question, was able to pull away from the scene of her accident.

The race arrived successfully this time around, with MotoE’s Maria Herrera beating Moto3 veteran and 2018 Supersport 300 World Champion Ana Carrasco by 0.067 seconds in a scintillating battle.
