Both Haas Formula 1 cars are at risk of being disqualified from the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying results after a non-compliance element was found on their rear wings.
Nico Hulkenberg qualified 12th in Sunday’s race, three places behind his teammate Kevin Magnussen.
But both are now at risk of losing those positions and going to the back of the grid – which would effectively make the weekend a write-off.
A report from FIA Formula 1 technical delegate Joe Power after qualifying said that an inspection of the “adjustable positions of the upper rear wing element” revealed an area of non-compliance.

Breach of technical regulations usually results in the offending vehicle being removed from the classification.
The matter has been referred to the supervisors.
Three years ago, Lewis Hamilton’s Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying result was annulled due to his Mercedes’ DRS gap being more than 85mm when activated.
Haas introduced a new rear wing this weekend in order to maximize downforce, which is normal in Monaco.
The team said the new wing specification “pushes the geometry to the maximum achievable load within the permissible rule box.”
