Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada has hinted that a return to Argentina could be on the cards In an interview on Monday. The 23-year-old revealed he spoke to Boca Junior legend Juan Roman Riquelme and admitted he would be interested in moving away from Major League Soccer.

“Yesterday Riquelme called me. It was a pleasant call. We talked a little about everything. If there is an official offer I will talk about it with my familyAlmada said.

Riquelme currently holds the position of president of Boca Junior, the club where he spent 13 years of his illustrious career. His role in the move could be key for Almada, but he will not be allowed to leave Atalanta on the cheap.

He joined from the Argentine side Velez Sarsfield for $14.6 million, a fee that remains the largest incoming MLS deal. Atlanta will likely demand a fee that exceeds the $24 million received for Miguel Almiron, a league-ending transfer record.
